Minor Project: Experimenting with the sound 7

Adding some ambient sounds from the dockyards made me completely satisfied with the track. It feels properly connected with the environment, makes much more sense and the project seems to gain more and more acceleration because of that. There still might be few minor changes with the track here and there, but now it is the time to focus on animating and get ready for the filming next week.

Minor Project: Experimenting with the sound 6

This time I tested some new effects that I learned how to use. I used more default samples just for the convenience, I will try to make something similar with my own and after visiting the dockyard I have a lot clearer idea of what kind of sounds and mood I want to hear.

Sound Editing and Importing to Maya

In this video I'm showing the explained relationship between my sounds and animation. In the left corner you can see the playblast affected by the sound waves, right corner - the sources of the sound and in the bottom - Visualised sound waves. I am planing to finish the whole track during the weekend.

Recording Samples

This is how I record sounds. I will make edited version with all fancy effects and visualised sound waves later on. I am recording outside, because there is better acoustic and lighting. I will do same thing through out the weekend if my neighbours won't get crazy.

Minor Project: Experimenting with the sound 5

I'm still not too sure about the soundtrack that I've got so far, but is getting there. It is still hard to feel the climax point, but little by little it is getting more structure and colors. Right now I' mixing absolutely everything what I've got recorded so far and trying to find the best combination. For the beggining I used some samples of Curtis Schwartz' "Future Sense" CD that Phil borrowed to me.

Minor Project: Experimenting with the sound 4

At this point I am trying to loose the randomness of the track and maybe to make it a bit tighter - create three act structure. It is funny how demonic everybody's voices might sound by changing little bits and adding weird effects. One of the best is Kadeem's voice which I mainly used in this track.

Minor Project: Experimenting with the sound 3

At this point I finally learned how to control and lay out different effects in order to get the exact sound expression that I want. After this I will try to make something more melodic, add some breaks of silence and still keep on searching for even weirder sound combinations. I will be also considering to reuse sounds from previous tracks If it will seem to be appropriate enough.

Minor Project: Experimenting with the sound 2

I gathered some random sounds from everywhere where I've been for the last few days and tried to make something interesting out of it. I'll try to make few variations of the same thing and by that time maybe find even more interesting sounds around me.

Minor Project: Experimenting with the sound

Today I found a reasonable way to record my guitar and started experimenting with the sound. The processor that I have is pretty much enough to record decent sounds. This time I tried to make my guitar sound like a completely different thing. With some manual editing, rewinding, extra effects and samples it might become into quite interesting piece of music. I'm not going for traditional piece of music, I want to make something very cinematic and ambient. Some sounds really reminds me "Blade Runner" and I think that it is a good thing.
