4-hour Environment Sketching Session
Following Feng Zhu's 56'th tutorial I decided to try to do something similar. I knew that I can't make finished painings in such limited period of time, but i decided to make as many as possible second stage thumbnails with mood and temperature described by colors in four hours. After fourth painting I felt that the time is running out and I just stopped thinking, everything just stopped working out. This exercise is seriously intensive and tiring, but it really teaches you to think and act quicker - be more productive.

Wow Dom! Just gorgeous! I especially love 1st and 4th thumbnails, they're so effective! :D
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes it is really worth just drop the idea if it is not working out after a while and not to waste any more time. I could see straight away how easy and quick it was to work on those two compared with the others. If it works straight away - it works till the end.
ReplyDeleteContrasting colours are really stunning in Feng's works. Agree with Molly on 1st/ 4th; they're the strongest in this regard. Like polar and inferno temperatures.
ReplyDeleteThe orange/red-blue one is stunning! Great style. To be honest - I would fave your whole blog if there was such an option : )
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
