Movie Reviews, research and life drawing

So, yesterday we had a great lecture of life drawing with a beautiful model. Here are some of my drawings:

 After that I watched few movies that could help me for my research and the only one that actually helped me was the district 9. 

Heres some quick common info from wiki page:

District 9 is a 2009 science fiction thriller film directed by Neill Blomkamp. It was written by Blomkamp and Terri Tatchell, and produced by Peter Jackson and Carolynne Cunningham. The film stars Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope and David James. Copley plays the role of Wikus van de Merwe,^[3] an Afrikaner bureaucrat assigned to relocate a race of extraterrestrial creatures unexpectedly stranded on Earth, derogatorily referred to as "prawns", from District 9, a military-guarded slum in Johannesburg, South Africa, to an internment camp outside the city. The movie was nominated for four Academy Awards in 2010, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, and Best Editing.^[4] 

This movie was full of realistic cg effects and entertaining action. At first I thought that it's going to be an ordinary hollywood movie, but it wasn't. A great mixture of documentary and comedy/action movie was something that I have never seen before. The plot is based on a man who was effected by some kind of alien liquid, starts mutating into one of those things and is wanted by local human protection company. The mutation process was the main source that helped for my research.

Those aliens have a lot in common with bugs and my theme animal is black widow. During the process of mutation there were some probably classic accidents like falling off nails, teeth, disgusting liquids flowing from the body. All of this we have already seen on our course movie "The Fly" remake.

That was a great movie for my research too. mutation process was not the only similar thing in both of those. The  alteration of human acting was almost the same. tickling head hand moves, eating and walking actions were really changing, on another hand district 9 bugs had almost the same personalities as humans, so the main characters mind and self-control wasn't changing at all compared to what we have seen on the fly.

I've also tried doing some quick sketching while watching the movies. I think tribal tattoos can really help for the body to look much more interesting. Self ideas aren't very original at the moment, but I'm still working on it.

My work is going to be based by centaurs and arachnes examples.

I want to make something big, strong and tough though :D

The thing is that since I've got Mediterranean black widow, males are weak actually and this is really female dominating bug. Ill' probably have to make myself like a minion or something, so it's going to be tough but just a part of horde, not leading thing, a victim in some aspects.
